摘要
The PM/AM split-dosing regimen has proven to be more effective than the standard 1-day bowel preparation for achieving optimal cleansing of the colon before a colonoscopy. An interval of 6 to 8 hours or less between the second dose of laxative and the time of the colonoscopy appears to be desirable for optimal bowel cleansing, especially within the ascending colon. The split-dose regimen is well tolerated by most patients provided that they understand the rationale for this practice. By improving the quality of bowel preparation and the detection of neoplastic colon lesions, a PM/AM split-dose regimen can be expected to increase the overall efficiency and effectiveness of colonoscopy and CRC screening.
