Reflux heat-treated polymethylsilane as a precursor to silicon carbide

摘要
Reflux heat treatment is a promising method to solve the problems in ceramic yields during manufacturing. The reflux process is safe because it is conducted at normal pressure, the system is very simple and economical, it can be observed in situ, and the batch scale can be easily extended. The effect of reflux treatment for polymethylsilane (PMS) and the ceramization of the refluxed PMS are discussed. At 623 K highly crosslinked structure in the refluxed polymers are formed thereby increasing ceramic yields.
