Kinetics of polymerization of ε-caprolactam in the presence of inorganic dispersed additives

摘要
The aim of present work was to study the influence of different inorganic dispersed additives, such as SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3 and graphite, on the kinetics and mechanism of the anionic polymerization of epsilon-caprolactam in bulk. These additives affected;significantly the formation of cyclic and linear amides, as well as the rate of chain exaustion with the time of polymerization up to an equilibrium value. The different additives showed a selective influence on the degree of conversion and molecular weight (M-v). In all cases they accelerated the rate of polymerization and increased M-v, the thermal and the thermo-mechanical behavior, as compared with polymerization with a widely used activator for lactams, e.g. acetyl caprolactam.
