Magnetic recording properties of electrolessly deposited NiXP/CoReNiMnP double layer media

摘要
This study examines the effect of underlayers on the magnetic recording properties of electrolessly deposited perpendicular recording tapes. The double layer tapes consist of 30 nm thick underlayer of NiXP (X = Zn, Fe, W) and 300-700 thick magnetic layers of CoReNiMnP. We have found that the magnetic properties and read/write properties can be improved by using NiWP or NiFeP films as the underlayer. A recording density (D-50) value of 90 kBPI was attained in NiWP/CoReNiMnP double layer media.
