摘要
New progresses in perpendicular recording have been made to surpass physical limitations, for meeting demands of future high-density information storage. A new SPT writing head with a high efficiency as well as a high robustness against stray field was developed. Challenges to a high recording resolution, low medium noises, and a high thermal stability have been performed. To overcome thermal instability for a future Tera bits class density, new candidate media of Co/Pd super-lattice and FePt films have been proposed. Finally, achievable recording performances by using advanced Co-Cr-M media are described.
