Few specialties in medicine have witnessed such dramatic changes in the twentieth century as cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Women of reproductive age and pregnant women have undoubtedly benefited from these advances. This article discusses the implications of cardiac disease and its therapies for each stage of pregnancy, including delivery, and touches on postpartum considerations.
