Active waveguides patterned in mixed 2D-3D metallic photonic crystal

摘要
Active metallic waveguides based on photonic bandgap structures are proposed. Their operation relies on the electromagnetic properties of mixed two- and three-dimensional photonic crystals. Tuning is induced by reflectivity modulation of the waveguide walls by means of varactor diodes.
