[GRAPHICS] A convergent synthetic route to the octacyclic polyether core of gambierol, a marine polycyclic ether toxin, has been developed, The synthesis involves construction of two fragments representing the ABC and EFGH ring systems followed by their coupling via a B-alkyl Suzuki reaction.
