Molecule-frame photoelectron angular distributions from oriented CF3I molecules

Electron-ion recoil vector correlations in dissociative 5a(1)(-1) photoionization of CF3I are examined with a photoelectron-phatoion coincidence imagine technique: and fixed-molecule photoionization calculations. The CF3+ dissociation channel results are readily interpreted as molecule-frame photoelectron angular distributions from, effectively, oriented parent molecules. The competing I+ fragmentation channel distributions, while similar at higher ionization energies, deviate nearer to the I dissociation threshold, revealing nontrivial (non-axial-recoil) ion fragmentation dynamics in this region.
