Compounds of trigonal cluster chloroaqua complexes with cucurbit[8]uril were synthesized by slowly evaporating HCl solutions of chalcogenides heterometallic cubane cluster complexes of molybdenum and tungsten with cucurbit[8]uril in air; the complexes were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis: (H3O)(8)[Mo3S4(H2O)(2.5)Cl-6.5](2)Cl(PdCl4)(.)(C48H48N32O16)(.)29H(2)O (a=13.3183(17) angstrom, b=13.7194(18) angstrom, c= 18.225(3) angstrom; alpha =80.263(3)degrees, beta =77.958(3)degrees, gamma =87.149(4)degrees, V=3207.4(7) angstrom(3), space group P1, Z = 1, rho(calc) = 1.900 g/cm(3)), (H3O)(4)[Mo3S4(H2O)(3)Cl-6](2)(.)(C48H48N32O16)(3)(.)68H(2)O (a = 21.413(6) angstrom, c = 49.832(10) angstrom; gamma =120 degrees, V= 19788(8) angstrom(3), space group R3, Z = 3, rho(calc) = 1.695 g/cm(3)), (H3O)(6)[Mo3S4(H2O)(3)Cl-6](2)Cl-2(.) (C48H48N32O16)(.)12H(2)O (a=15.881(2) angstrom, b=17.191(2) angstrom, c=23.276(4) angstrom; beta =98.865(15)degrees, V= 6278.7(15) angstrom(3), space group P2(1)/c, Z=2, rho(calc)=1.638 g/cm(3)), [W3S4(H2O)(5)Cl-4](2)(.)(C48H48N32O16)(3)(.)35H(2)O (a = 21.038(3) angstrom; alpha = 61.20(1)degrees, V= 6762.0(14) angstrom(3), space group R3, Z = 1, rho(calc) = 1.582 g/cm(3)). The [Mo3S4(H2O)(3)Cl-6](2-) anion complex was isolated as three geometrical isomers.
