Service-delivery research is reviewed with specific emphasis on the economic impact of depression on the health system, nonclinical factors influencing treatment, current management practices in the primary care and speciality sectors, and efforts to improve depression management in primary care, Special emphasis is given to randomized trials of new service-delivery programs.
