摘要
The expression of a subset of genes is strongly controlled at translational checkpoints, a major mechanism of posttranscriptional regulation. Inflammatory and vascular cells receive outside-in signals to specialized pathways that regulate translation of specific messenger RNAs in a transcript-specific fashion and thereby influence key features of cellular phenotype. These pathways and the expression of proteins that they control may be dysregulated in cardiovascular diseases and are therapeutic targets. (c) 2005, Elsevier Inc.
