Effects of cerebrovascular accident on micturition

Cerebrovascular accident is often a devastating neurological event that may result in temporary or permanent sequelae among survivors including voiding dysfunction. The cost of the acute and chronic care of survivors of a stroke is astronomical and when compounded with voiding dysfunction, the cost can be even higher. Therefore, proper diagnosis and management of voiding dysfunction in the post-stroke patient are important for improved patient well being, improved patient survival, reduced disability, and a reduction in the national health care expenditures.
