The significance of dinitrogen coordination chemistry under the biomimetic imperative was analyzed. The presence of nitrido ligand influenced the atomic events in nitrogen fixation. The bonding mode gave substantial polarization to the dinitrogen moiety and the complex displayed equally unusual reactivity patterns, including the ability to undergo hydroboration and hydrosilylation reactions. Spontaneous reactions involved the reductive loss of bridging hydrides as H2, leading to N-N bond scisson and the evolution of reactive nitrido ligands.
