Using the British Columbia Linked Health Databases, we explored the association between nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and the risk of developing Parkinson's disease (PD). We followed a cohort of older adults in the Province of British Columbia from 1997 to 2003. A time-dependent Cox model was used to estimate adjusted rate ratios for users and non-users of NSAIDs. The results of our study did not show a protective effect of NSAIDs for PD (rate ratio 0.84, 95% CI 0.81-1.09). (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
