Lethal-weapon visualization: A novel triarylmethanol derivative, which is able to colorimetrically distinguish diisopropylfluorophosphate (DFP; a mimic of Sarin and Soman) from other nerve-agent simulants, is reported (see picture). This probe was designed to contain two reactive sites: an OH group that provides a suitable reactive group for nerve agents and a tert-butyldimethylsilylether moiety that is able to react with fluoride, which is a specific byproduct of the phosphorylation of OH by DFP. © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
