摘要：

Transcriptional activators bind to specific DNA sequences and activate transcription by RNA polymerase. But they often don't contact the polymerase directly, and the biological signals to activate transcription are relayed through so-called mediators. A number of such mediators have been identified and, surprisingly, many of them contain the same protein subunits.
