In this communication we present the results of two experiments providing information about electron traps in the LuAlO3:Ce scintillator: standard thermoluminescence and measurement of scintillation light output as a function of temperature. From these results the basic trap parameters (depths and frequency factors) have been calculated, showing that the four traps detected by the first technique are much deeper (0.64, 1.25, 1.69 and 1.71 eV) than the single trap (similar to 0.5 eV) detected by the second experimental method. All the traps, however, are responsible for the scintillation light loss in LuAlO3:Ce. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
