Ultra-violet range magneto-optic study of FCC-Co and Co/Pt multilayers

摘要
A magneto-optical Kerr spectroscopic apparatus for the photon energy range up to 6.8 eV has been constructed. A detailed description of the system is presented here. The spectroscopic instrument is carefully calibrated for the modulator for the entire photon energy range under consideration so as to obtain accurate Kerr rotation and ellipticity. The results of the Kerr rotation and ellipticity in 1000 Angstrom thick face centered cubic Co films, and Co/Pt multilayers of various layer thicknesses (Pt: 3-11 Angstrom, Co: 3 Angstrom) are discussed in conjunction with the theoretical works.
