Inhibition of elastic and inelastic scattering by the Pauli exclusion principle: Suppression mechanism for mesoscopic partition noise

A semiclassical Monte Carlo simulation which implements a dynamic feedback process based on the Pauli exclusion principle is used to study the suppression of partition noise in a one dimensional mesoscopic conductor. The purely distributed elastic scattering case exhibits a one-third suppression relative to full shot noise. Increasing inelastic scattering can initially increase the noise, but eventually suppresses it. The key mechanism is the redistribution of electrons by random scattering subject to a ''Pauli exclusion principle.'' (C) 1997 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
