Recent experiments have led to renewed interest in differences between immune responses in adults and neonates. Here, Stuart Marshall-Clarke and colleagues discuss and propose a model suggesting that differences at the B-cell level might play an important role in the impoverished responses and reported Th2 bias of neonates.
