Subsolidus phase equilibria in the La2O3-CeO2-NiO system

摘要
The subsolidus phase equilibria at 1200 °C in air in the La2O3-CeO2-NiO system was investigated to elucidate the possible interactions between a ceria based electrolyte and lanthanum nickelate as a possible cathode material. No ternary compound was found. The tie lines were between the La2NiO4 and the end of CeO2 solid solution range with composition La0.5Ce0.5O1.75, and between the NiO and CeO2 range of solid solutions. Results indicated that lanthanum nickelate-based cathode material reacted with ceria-based solid electrolyte forming NiO and CeO2 solid solutions.
