Antimicrobials with a long history in the therapy of bovine respiratory disease are briefly reviewed. A discussion of extra-label antimicrobial use includes an overview of drugs commonly used in conjunction with a look at regulations regarding this practice Ceftiofur sodium, tilmicosin phosphate, florfenicol, and enrofloxacin are covered in greater depth. The issues of combination antimicrobial therapy, interpretation of laboratory susceptibility results, and case definition are also addressed.
