Axon pruning: An active role for glial cells

摘要
Pruning to refine synaptic networks is a common feature of neural circuit development. New work has shown that, in the Drosophila brain, the steroid hormone ecdysone signals neurons to recruit active glial engulfment and phagocytosis for development-appropriate axonal pruning.
