Charge-discharge characteristics of natural graphite electrode in some cyclic carbonates

摘要
The charge-discharge characteristics of a natural graphite electrode were examined in LiPF6 mixed electrolytes composed of diethyl carbonate (DEC) and a cyclic carbonate selected from ethylene carbonate (EC), propylene carbonate (PC), butylene carbonate (BC), vinylene carbonate (VC) and chloroethylene carbonate (CEC). It was found that a natural graphite electrode could be charged and discharged in EC/DEC, VC/DEC and CEC/DEC but not in PC/DEC and BC/DEC. The discharge capacity of the natural graphite electrode in CEC/DEC was the same as that in EC/DEC and that in VC/DEC was smaller than that in EC/DEC. However, the high rate discharge characteristics of the natural graphite electrode in VC/DEC were superior to those in other electrolytes, which was attributed to the higher conductivity of the electrolyte.
