Optical spectra of Sm3+ and Sm2+ in chloride glass

摘要
A colorless Sm3+ -doped chloride glass of the system 79.5ZnCl(2)-10BaCl(2)-10KCl-0.5SmCl(3) was prepared by melting the starting mixture. On the other hand, a reddish brown glass was obtained, where Sm3+ was partially reduced to Sm2+ by bubbling a H-2-N-2 mixed gas into a melt of the starting mixture. Optical spectra of Sm3+ and Sm2+ ions in these glasses were measured at RT. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
