摘要
Management fads in higher education go through a predictable five-stage process from the time of their initial introduction until their eventual abandonment. In a process of "virtual adoption," academic institutions may endorse management innovations for their symbolic benefits but isolate them from core activities to avoid disruption caused by implementation.
