摘要
C15 Laves phases RFe2 (R=Y, Ce, Sin, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) were thermally analyzed to elucidate the conditions of hydrogen-induced amorphization (HIA) using a pressure differential scanning calorimeter (PDSC) in a hydrogen atmosphere. Hydrogen absorption in the crystalline state, hydrogen-induced amorphization (HIA), precipitation of RH, and decomposition of the remaining amorphous phase into RH2+alpha-Fe occur exothermally with increasing the temperature in RFe2 (R=Y, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy and Ho), although HIA in YFe2 occurs through two stages. The absorption temperature of hydrogen (T-a) and the precipitation temperature of RH2 (T-p) are nearly constant and independent of the atomic number of R, but the temperature of HIA (To) increases with increasing atomic numbers. As a result, hydrogen absorption and HIA Occur simultaneously in CeFe2 while HIA and precipitation of ErH2 occur simultaneously in ErFe2. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
