摘要
This paper reviews the criteria for detecting individual molecules in liquids. It focuses on the detection of individual molecules by means of capillary electrophoresis and laser fluorimetry. It discusses the main experimental limitations and obstacles that make it hard to reliably detect individual molecules. It discusses the results of tests of the Nanofor device, fabricated at the Institute of Analytical Instrumentation, Russian Academy of Sciences, which uses original technical solutions to provide the conditions for high-sensitivity detection of fluorescing molecules in a capillary.
