1,3-Dioxan-5-yl diazoacetates undergo conformation dependent oxonium ylide generation catalyzed by chiral dirhodium(II) carboxamidates, and Stevens rearrangement product(s) are formed with high chemoselectivity and with enantioselectivities reaching 88% ee. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
