摘要：

Taeniasis is an important medical and economic problem in many countries in East Asia, especially in the mountainous and remote areas where the inhabitants are fond of earing uaw or undercooked meat. P.C. Fan here discusses how socio-cultural factors and local customs can contribute to the transmission of taeniasis and evaluates the economic losses caused by the disease.
