摘要
We apply new upper limits on neutrino fluxes and the diffuse extragalactic component of the GeV gamma-ray flux to various scenarios for ultra-high energy cosmic rays and neutrinos. As a result we find that extragalactic top-down sources cannot contribute significantly to the observed flux of highest energy cosmic rays, except if the AGASA flux normalization is too high by at least a factor of two. The explanation of the observed ultra-high energy cosmic ray flux by the decay products of Z bosons produced in ultra-high energy neutrino interaction with relic neutrino background is ruled out by recent data from GLUE and FORTE experiments, provided cosmological limits on neutrino mass and clustering apply.
