摘要
The potential side effects of anticancer chemotherapy are legion and easily confused with the direct and indirect (paraneoplastic) effects of cancer itself. Short- and medium-term depression of the function of bone marrow, kidneys, and heart is well-known. With improved survival of cancer patients, delayed effects, particularly those affecting the lungs, eyes, and gonads and those leading to second cancers, are an increasingly recognized cause of morbidity and mortality. Familiarity with the range of adverse effects, which can disrupt the function of every organ system, is essential for the practicing oncologist.
