NMR relaxation study of collective motions and viscoelastic properties in biomembranes

摘要
Results of transverse P-31 and H-2 relaxation measurements in dimyristoyl-phosphatidylcholine membranes employing the Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill pulse sequence are reported. The observed pulse frequency dependence indicates the existence of slow motions, which can be interpreted in terms of order director fluctuations in the liquid crystalline phase. The analysis yields the viscoelastic parameters of the membrane non-invasively. The effect of various membrane constituents such as proteins and sterols on the viscoelastic behaviour is examined.
