Converting near-bottom OBS measurements into suspended sediment concentrations

摘要：

A method of estimating the mass proportion of nonhomogeneous sediment constituents in suspension is presented. This method provides a more accurate conversion of OBS measurements (volts) to suspended sediment concentrations (grains per liter). Given a set of calibration coefficients of end-members, the method allows one to obtain the spatially and temporally varying in situ coefficients that are used in the conversion. Field and/or laboratory experiments are needed to verify the method.
