Facile synthesis of acidic copolymers via atom transfer radical polymerization in aqueous media at ambient temperature

摘要
An efficient, well-controlled copolymerization of an acidic monomer, sodium 4-vinylbenzoate, via atom transfer radical polymerization in aqueous media was demonstrated. CuIBr and the ligand 2,2′-bipyridine were used as catalysts. The process produced excellent yields in very short reaction times even at 20 °C.
