Transform-based image enhancement algorithms with performance measure

Various image enhancement methods such as spatial domain methods, including region-based and rational-morphology-based methods, were discussed. The spatial domain methods discussed included unsharp masking, histogram equalization, contrast stretching, and modified cosine function. The basic idea behind frequency domain method consists in transforming the image, manipulating the transform coefficients, and performing then the inverse transformation. The improvements achieved in image quality after enhancement are also discussed.
