A "(+)-sparteine-like" chiral diamine, readily synthesized in three steps from (-)-cytisine, has been evaluated in four different asymmetric transformations; in each case, selectivity in an enantiocomplementary fashion to (-)-sparteine was observed. Copyright © 2002 American Chemical Society.
