摘要：

Epidemiological evidence from the early 1990s suggested that a sexually transmitted infectious agent other than the HIV virus was associated with the development of Kaposi's sarcoma in patients with HIV. A novel gamma herpesvirus was identified in Karposi's sarcoma lesions. The molecular genetics of this virus ore reviewed in this article.
