(Figure Presented) Fenced in: Selective electrochemical desorption of self-assembled monolayers of HS(CH2)11(OCH 2CH2)6OH was carried out on parts of a gold substrate restricted to microfluidic channels. This chemical transformation activates parts of the surface for adhesion of multiple types of cells with well-controlled geometry. © 2007 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
