摘要:
Carbon nanotubes have been successfully grown on the tip of wires by using a novel technique, which heated up the tip of wire locally via the absorption of microwaves. Effect of processing parameters such as microwave power, gas species and catalyst on the growth behavior of carbon nanotubes on the tip of wire was examined. The bare Fe-needles, which possess essentially no electron field emission capacity, were converted into good emitters, which exhibited large electron field emission current density (J(e) = 45 mA/cm(2)), due to the formation of carbon nanotubes on their tip.
