CEMS comparative study of laser deposited and thermally evaporated Fe/Al multilayers

摘要
Al/Fe interfaces prepared by pulsed laser deposition and thermal evaporation, respectively, have been investigated by GEMS. In all cases a layered structure consisting of a non-magnetic interface phase of approximately FeAl composition and a solution of Al in Fe is found. However, a larger range of intermixing occurs in the PLD samples and also this range is larger for the deposition of Fe on Al than for Al on Fe.
