Use of inquiry method for assessment and evaluation in a school-based community nursing project

The inquiry group method. advanced in the Florida Atlantic University Community Nursing Project, expanded from a traditional conception of focus group, and is grounded in the values of respect and caring. The purpose of this article is to describe this method and its usefulness in assessment and evaluation of health programs in multicultural, underserved schools and communities. Data gathered through this method provide information about individual and collective strengths, resources, and needs, Reflection on the data offers the opportunity to hear unique calls for nursing that give direction for creation of nursing responses. An array of exemplars is provided highlighting the method. calls for nursing, nursing responses, and the evaluation process.
