The synthesis of pyrano-agarofurans is described using as key step the stereoselective epoxidation of a 6alpha-hydroxy-1,2,3,4,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphtalene derivative 8 controlled by the configuration of the allylic alcohol at C-6. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
