摘要：

Weekly low-dose methotrexate is now the gold standard therapy for rheumatoid arthritis. Its usefulness in the treatment of other rheumatic diseases is widening. Although serious side effects are uncommon, some side effects are common and limit dose optimizing to control inflammation. These side effects are thought to result from the anti-folate properties of methotrexate. This article reviews the usefulness of adding folates concomitantly to control side effects and provides one view of how they should be used.
