摘要:
The effect of distance between sink and source in peach trees (Prunus persica L. Batch) was investigated on the late maturing cv. Suncrest in 1995. The study was done on girdled scaffolds with the leaves (source of assimilates) at the upper end of the scaffold and the branch fruits (sink) located at three different distances from the assimilate source (50, 100 and 150 cm). The fruit bearing branches each had four fruits and no source of assimilates. All other scaffold branches (except the ones with leaves at the top and the ones with fruit) were removed. Fruit diameter was recorded weekly until harvest. The results show there is no effect of distance on fruit growth. However, it appears that fruit position relative to other fruits and assimilats source influences its growth. The fruit proximal to the leafy zone had greater growth than the more distal ones.
