2-mercapto-1-methylimidazole as corrosion inhibitor of copper in aerated 3% NaCl solution

摘要
The effect of the addition of 2-mercapto-1-methylimidazole (McMIm) on the copper corrosion behaviour in aerated 3% sodium chloride solution was studied by electrochemical polarization, impedance spectra, cyclic voltammetry methods and TR spectra. The inhibition efficiencies obtained from cathodic Tafel plots and polarization resistance methods were in good agreement. McMIm additive was found to be an excellent inhibitor of Cn corrosion. Polarization measurements showed that the investigated molecule acts as a mixed-type inhibitor.
