摘要：

A silica gel supported ferric nitrate was prepared by co-grinding Fe(NO3)(3) . 9H(2)O with silica gel in appropriate amounts. The reagent was used in equimolar quantity to oxidize various alcohols to corresponding aldehydes with complete selectivity. Similarly it successfully oxidizes various Hantzsch-type 1,4-dihydropyridines.
