SrTiO3(001) surface structures under oxidizing conditions

摘要
The thermodynamically stable (2 x 1), c(4 x 2) and c(6 x 2) surface structures were obtained under oxidative conditions on the SrTiO3(0 0 1) surface and studied with transmission electron microscopy. All three reconstructed surfaces exhibit similar morphological features formation of flat (10 0) facets on the surface, stabilization of (I 10) originally polar facets as well as the existence of surface defects in a form of subsurface voids. The consistency and high reproducibility of our results suggest construction of a phase diagram for the formation of different structures on the SrTiO3 (0 0 1) surface as a function of annealing temperature.
