All-silicon bistable micromechanical fibre switches

摘要
A fibre optical 1 x 2 switch based on Si-micromechanics for singlemode fibres is presented. For bistable operation, the input fibre is switched and fixed in a V-groove clamp using thermal actuators. The power consumption during switching is 1.5W for several 10ms, the insertion loss achieved so far is 5dB and the cross talk is below -60dB.
